ULS Troubleshooting
Random but IMPORTANT ULS things to know
- NEVER LEAVE THE LASER CUTTER ON UNATTENDED
- NEVER LEAVE THE LASER CUTTER RUNNING UNATTENDED
- Check optics everyday, clean optics every week
- Updating links: NFC tags, QR codes, Notion (equipment page, front page frequently used, resources page)
- Make sure air is turned on before use
- ALWAYS run test cuts when you’re using a material for the first time to know what settings will give you your desired results
- Leave air on and cover closed for 15 seconds after the cut is completed to ensure that the majority of the fumes from the cut have been vented out
- Use the Wiggle Test to ensure that your part was cut out of the material
- When designing the part you want to laser cut, make sure that if you want the laser speed and power settings to be different for different lines within your part, you designate different colors for different lines in your model at the design stage (with CAD software)
- The default is as following: Red is for vector cutting, Blue is for vector engraving, Black is for raster engraving
- You can change these settings as needed; however, when using pre-set materials, these colors are what the software uses.
- You can use the ULS interface for several things:
- To estimate how long your laser cut job will take
- To adjust the focus height (or you can do it physically)
